About Mrs. Hutchings
I am excited to begin another year teaching second grade at Battle Creek Elementary School. It is hard to believe that it is already the forth year since opening our doors. The cohesive and talented school team and active parent involvement have been truly amazing to be a part of.
This year will be my 13th year as an educator. Before I started teaching at Battle Creek, I taught first and second grades at Sumpter Elementary School. Though I loved teaching at Sumpter, I could not pass up the opportunity to open a brand new school. It is a bonus that I still get to visit with many of my previous students from Sumpter who transferred to Battle Creek.
I earned both my bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Oregon. Go Ducks! Before teaching for four years at Sumpter, I was a Learning Resource Center teacher at Gubser Elementary School in Keizer. I hold a license in general education, special education, and teaching English to language learners.
My husband Chip and I have two children. Riley is going into forth grade at Battle Creek. He is excited to start soccer in the fall and to meet his new teacher. Elsie will be attending Sprague highschool as a freshman. She is eager to start choir and track in September. Our family loves the outdoors. We spend a lot of time exploring Oregon forests and beaches.
I look forward getting to know your child this year. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to share information about your child’s needs. You can click on the contact me link to send an email or call me at 503-399-2062.
